About Well Beans

This didn’t start with a business plan.

It started with a child.. well children

My children.

Neurodivergent. Creative. Big-feelinged. Full of questions. Full of fire; one who has so much academic success and struggles with processing all the emotions of understanding what that face, that feeling means, the other who needs help with decoding diagraphs but who can translate even the most complex emotions and how it impacts them, their friends and the world around them. Like so many kids, caught in systems that didn’t know what to do with their fire, systems who would see them on fire and provide "suitable" accommodations by asking them to use their inside flames , the systems essentially attempted to extinguish the things that made them, them, the things that made them amazing.

I sat across tables from professionals who’d read reports, nodded solemnly, and said things like, “And this means...” I fought to decode their brain while ignoring the screaming in mine.
And somewhere between my therapuetic trauma experience, my post-grad training, and the thousands of times I tried to explain that this isn’t defiance, it’s dysregulation... Well Beans was born.

Not as a clinic. As a commitment.
To create the kind of space I’d wished existed  for them, and for me.

What Well Beans Actually Does

Well Beans starts with safety.
Not compliance. Not sticker charts. Not “use your words.”
Safety , the kind that says and feels like.. “You’re allowed to be all of you here.”

Then we move to understanding.
Brain science. Nervous systems. Sensory profiles.
Not watered-down fluff  actual neuroscience, disguised as play.

Then , and only then do we ask a child,
“How do you want to operate in the world?”

But it’s not always linear.
Sometimes a session starts with emotional ID and ends with the history of the Mariana Trench.
Sometimes a child needs to explain every dinosaur from the late Jurassic period before they can tell me they’re sad.
Sometimes we build 17 Lego hideouts and don’t talk at all.

That’s the work.

Because just like adults, kids don’t open up when they’re pushed.
They open up when they’re safe, when they’re believed, and when someone gives a damn about their internal logic.

How Well Beans is different

If you’re looking for rigid, step-by-step therapy with strict behavioural programs, this isn’t the place.
We don’t believe “resilience” means stuffing it down and moving on.

Well Beans is based on developmental neuroscience, trauma-informed practice, and real-life, lived experience.
We support the whole nervous system  not just the symptoms.
We co-regulate, we connect, and we listen. Even to the things they don’t say out loud.

And yes  I’m a late-diagnosed ADHDer. I get what it’s like to spend your life feeling “too much,” “not enough,” and constantly translating yourself for the world.
That’s why our work isn’t about boxes.

It’s about maps.

Every child comes here with a different one.
We don’t redraw it for them.
We walk it with them.

We’re not everyone’s cup of tea.
But if you’ve ever watched your child struggle and thought, “They just need someone to get it” ,  we probably are yours.

Thats Well Beans for ya...
